what player are you using? have you tried others?

what happens when you extract the audio to uncompressed wav using vdub?

I think the problem is that it does not recognise the audio encoder.
It should say something like mp3 or so.

You could try to extract it with v-dub and maybe open it with Cooledit or something similar, save it again as mp3 and remux it with video, using V-dub.

But if your system has not the decoder, I doubt you will be able to open it with anything...

i usually use Zoom Player, but also with WMP i'm not able to hear anything.

i've also extract with Vdub in uncompressed wav with no results?

if i'm missing the audio codec, does exists a way to understand what codec i'm needing?

Thank you again

Hi.

You can get the audio file and edit in a text or Hexadecimal editor to see some word in the first lines that could give you a clue of the coder and then search in google. Just Try.

What kind of avi file is it?
If it's Divx, it could be Divx Audio (the old audio codec that came with Divx 3.11 alpha).
