Virtualdub errors - "insufficient resources"
Did a quick search through the forums, and couldn't find any other examples of this.

Recently I've been playing with some video captures, which of course result in huge files (55GB's on this one) It captures OK, compressed using Huffy. But when I try to do anything in vdub to that file (save WAV, recompress, or just direct stream copy of a short section) it gives an error about "insufficient system resources for the AVIstream fast write" or something like that after a random period of time. I did all the usual - reboot PC, kill unnecessary processes, and tweak the VDub drive caching options, and even tried disabling optimized IO in the file->open->extended options. OS is win2k, system specs in sig.

Fixed my own problem. Disabled 'Use large system cache' in the win2k registry, and everything A-OK now.

The "use large system cache" registry tweak seems to be a bad idea for Win2k and a lot of RAM. I have 512MB and when I enable large system cache, my system becomes a single-task system. It can literally open one window at a time and only as soon as you close it, the next one will open. Very strange...

On another Win2k machine with 384MB RAM it's ok at the first glance, but it doesn't improve anything and will sometimes randomly pause the system for 10-20 seconds on file-read operations.
