How should I select the Region number under Advanced Settings Options
RCE region protection?
This setting does work just in ISO Mode?

Thanks

Set it to what ever region the disc 'should' be.
If the program cannot automatically 'fix' an IFO by parsing the PRE commands, it resorts to patching it with this value.
Previous versions just fixed it to region 1 - as at the time, only region 1 discs were RCE protected.
Ive now found that some region 4 discs are, hence the reason for me now adding it as an option that the user can change.
It applies to ISO mode and the IFO patching util in the 'Tools' menu.

Very good, because I found many Region 4 RCE and now I can use your
tool to free the region.
One more time I thank you for your attention.

Is there a way to remove RCE Protection completely? And if it's possible, is there a program that can perform this operation?

You could remove it, but it would take a while. This basically the same. It bypasses it - once and for all.

I ripped the first disc of the Simpsons Season 2 set and when I tried to play it I got a region protection error. I have no idea why since the discs are region 1 and so is my system.

Nevertheless I attempted to IFO patch it to region free and I get an error dialog in DVD Decrypter 3.1.2.0:

"Common Dialog Box Error!

Error Code: 0x3003
Interpretation: The buffer pointed to by the IpstrFile member of the OPENFILENAME structure is too small for the file name specified by the user. The first two bytes of the IpstrFile buffer contain an integer value specifying the size, in TCHARs, required to receive the full name."

I also tried an older version of DVD Decrypter and it claimed that the patch worked by I still can't play the rip and if I use the current version of DVD Decrypter to get the Region information of the IFO it says Region 1 and RCE Yes. So I don't think it worked.

If I rip to an ISO I can play that, but I would like rippping to VOBs to work as well. Any ideas?

That 'Common Dialog Box' error is a known problem and has been fixed in the version i'll release soon.
When patching RCE, you need to do ALL of the IFO / BUP files.

Hey, thanks for the response. I didn't realize I had to do all the ifo and bup files.

Interestingly, if I use the IFO patch tool and select all the ifo and bup files in the file selector, I don't get the dialog error and it claims to patch all the files! And now I can play the VOBs...

Thanks for your help! Great program by the way. ;)
