Hi, I have a dvd with 8 PGC's in 1 Vob set. I am using the Sceanarist/CCE (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-cce.htm) method to encode/rebuild this. The question i have is 2 of the PGC's are just warning/fbi type clips of 25 and 45 seconds long. Can I just replace these with 1 second of black video then re authour it along with the others in Sceanarist or do I strip these like you would a FBI clip in IFOEDIT (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-advanced.htm) (which incidently I never seem to get working properly).
Hope someone can help

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place i couldnt deceide if it's a Authoring or a IFOedit question. :(

I've done that ( 15 frames black video instead of logo and warning ) on the lord of the ring ( save a little space... ), it works, but be careful and don't forget to delete playback with ifoedit or it will crash...

@Jin Kazama
How would you replace the black video into the pgc? How also do you delete the playback of the pgc? Thanks.

Why not just change jump commands in IFO with IfoEdit, once fully re-authored?
I do that to avoid problem as I do not care 99% of the time to save 40Mb and like to be sure it's still compatible with standalones.

@klona
I assume you are talking about changing the jumps commands in the Pre Commands under First Play PGC. If so, then sometimes just changing the jump command doesn't work, the dvd sometimes hangs.

the way I did it was to create a second of black video in premier, cce it then import it in Scenarist and bobs yer uncle :)

I don't get it... If you are re-authoring the thing, just don't bring over the warnings in your product. Scenarist is a powerful authoring program that will allow you to use practically all (okay, ALL) of the video from the original, meaning all film clips (.M2V) any and all of the audio that you want, and any and all of the substreams that you want... and even the menus (but, it can be a lot of work).
Perhaps I am not understanding what you mean when you say "re-authoring"?

i was on a scenarist/maestro authoring just to do a proper squeleton from CCE reencoded m2v, then Ifoupdate from original IFO, plus vob*_O.vob to have all menus back. In this case, you need to have the same architecture than original dvd, including stupid warning VTS, then to remove it updating IFOs.
Sure, if you do a full new authoring, you just drop warnings. I do that for complex titles now, doing one vts in maestro and using materials from original menus. Faster for me as any time I use scenarist I found a new feature that need lots of time to understand... And I have no time right now...

The reason I was doing this is on a multi PGC title. I had 3 pgcs, 2 of them 1.5 hours long and a third 1 sec which was black video. I didnt want to just leave it out and when I tried to re encode it with CCE it errored, so i tried to import the vob directly into Scenarist....but still had problems, So I created a 1 sec black video in Premier and used that instead. The end DVD worked fine and all the chapters seem to point to the correct place.
I dont know if this is the best way to do it (Probably not) and there is probably a correct way to do it...But this worked for me.
