I have been trying to interleave a 448 kbps soundtrack with AVI video – Star Wars The Phantom Menace –
Read the sticky about AC3 but still don’t know if the filters are registered properly. I am using winxp pro and if I open up a command prompt and type cd windows\system32\ I get not recognized as an internal or external command. If I type windows\system32\ I get the system cannot find the path specified. Do I have to boot to DOS to register the filters?
Graph Edit does show the filters one is in system32 the other is in the folder where I unzipped it. The sticky states make sure mpgaudio.ax is installed properly. How do I do make sure it’s installed properly?
But besides that I can’t get the ac3 and avi to interleave properly. Tried every value listed on the sticky plus some more - at least 15 times. One of these should have worked. 96ms/96ms was pretty good but still jerky at times and it doesn’t have to be pan & scan scenes it just seems to be random its like the sound will skip several words and the video skips some frames also a random popping noise after interleaving.
Could the sound card be the problem? When I disable the sound blaster and play the avi + ac3 there doesn’t seem to be any stutter

@nukeemall,

What is your soundcard ? processor ?
What is your video codec used in the AVI file ?

PS. I'm using SoundBlaster, 500ms/128ms works fine for me.

Try Elecard mpeg2 package with Odio ac3 DS filter,
http://www.moonlight.co.il/download/EMpgDec20beta.zip
sometimes it may help.

I've always had trouble with nandub and interleaving.

I use virtualdub-ac3 with and interleave of 60ms (not frames!) and it works great. Maybe that helps.

Sound card – sound blaster PCI 512
Processor - p4 1500
Video codec – divX pro 5.0.2

I tried the Elecard mpeg2 package with Odio ac3 DS filter the jerky play and popping was still there. I updated the creative soundcard drivers but that didn’t help so I uninstalled the creative drivers and installed the Microsoft ones that come with xp. After I did that the avi+ac3 plays a lot better - still has the popping but the skipping of sound and frames is gone. The problem must be the sound card since changing the drivers helped any way I ordered a TB santa cruz
