Hi, this is my first post to this board.
I have search the treads but there is some questions i cannot seem to find anywhere, and im currently looking for a solution.
#1) Is there a method to make DVD2SVCD encode a movie with permanent subs, and whitout subs in 1 workprocess, or is the subs hardcoded when it runs CCE/TMpegE ??
#2) Do i in any way have possibility to change size of the subtitles when encoding, like i have the possibility to change the placement ??
Again thanks for a great forum, and i guess, i you can't get the awnser here, you cannot get it anywhere :)

Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay, and you're right, if you don't find your answer here, you won't get it anywhere :)
Pertaining to your first question, that depends on the film itself. If the subs are, in fact, hardcoded into the film, you should still be able to convert it, but you won't be able to control the subs at all, it will be just like any other part of the movie. Just look for a subtitle stream, and if there isn't one, then you've got yourself hardcoded subs.
As for your second question, I don't think DVD2SVCD allows sub size editing by default, I've never seen such an option, nor have I read of it. However, I'm sure there are additional filters out there that can assist you. Just use our good friend Google ;)

Just to clarify: whenever you do permanent subs, they are hard-encoded right into the video and become part of it, as Ultimate already explained. If you want the second version without subs, you will have to redo everything from the encoding step on ...
Regarding Q2: on a DVD, subs are already present as bitmaps, thus you can't specify sth. like a "bigger font" for them. You can try and use a batch-capable image editor and resize the subtitles to your liking (they are saved by dvd2svcd as BMPs). Obviously, increasing their size won't give too nice results ... otherwise, you could also go the very long route via first OCR'ing the ripped subs, then re-generating the bmps using a fontsize you like and feeding them to the encoder via the avs script. Thanks for the quick replies to both of you,
just as i feared.. about that i had to reencode to get a version without subs.
I've looked at that tread you pointed to, it's just what i need, sorry for not finding that myself, i just thought that there was an easy way to do that, but i can see now there aint.
