Hi there,

I have a little problem with SmartRipper.
Is there any possibility to rip over a network. See I don't have a DVD drive but my girlfriend does. But she doesn't have the space on her HD. :-(
So it would be great if I could rip on her machine, but onto my HD over the network we have.

Thanks for your time and patience.

If both of you are using Windows and Windows filesharing, you can just map a drive. You need to share a drive or folder on your computer. Then on her computer, open up Network Neighborhood or My Network Places (depending on the operating system version) and find that shared folder. Right-click it and choose "Map Network Drive". You'll be given the option for a drive letter, just choose anything. Now when you open up Smartripper, choose that drive to rip to and you're all set.

Of course, you have to realize that ripping is going to be very very slow because you have to transfer the files across the network.

I'm often in that situation. We frequently overlook the most simple solutions. I don't think there is an actual client-server ripping tool out there, but perhaps someone should write one *grin*
