Hi Dudes

I hope i have choosen the right message board.

I use dvd2svcd 1.0.9 build 3.

I tried to make several movies now with chapters. They never work for me.I have choosen all kind of stuff and burned about 20 cdīs.I never have chapters.I wonder if somebody is able to help me out!
It would be great.

This are my settings:
-ripped with internal program routines
-dvd chapters and pcp use selections
-burned as a image file
a)with cdrwin:svcd wonīt play at all on my standalone.
and on my dvd rom i can not even see the file system when i put
it into the rom?!
b)with nero:movies plays but no chapters.

i have tried several movies and all time the same.

i have tried dvd chapters with pcp use selections and witout pcp.
always the same.the chapters donīt work.

I hope somebody is able to help.its starting to get a little bit frustrating.

I tried the search engine here but did not found somebody with similar problems,i read the questions and answers completeley but when it comes to chapters it just says:
"use dvd pcp use selections"....

What could be the course of this?did i forget any important setting?
are i am doing something wrong?which burning software is suggested?

help would be extremely welcome.

thanks in advance and keep up the good job

best regards,
Aion.

ps:
this settings have not been working on my standalone player and my dvdrom

don't know your exact problem, but I would at least suggest getting Daemon tools so you can mount the images and watch/play them without burning and wasting discs.

Hi

Try the above mentioned methode with Daemon tool, if you can choose now the chapters with PowerDVD, burn the*.bin to your CDR.
Now you have to check your standalone Player if PBC is switched off or on and try to play with it around.
A friend of mine has a Philipsplayer and has to switch PBC off, that chapters and subs may work correctly, although the startingpicture does'nt work then.

Hi

i will see if i will find something at my dvd player set up to turn on/off pbc.

i have read at some forums that some people had problems with chapters when they used progs like nero etc, which i did as well.

they said the tool "fireburner" will work here.unfortunately that tool
does not work properly on my machine.
Can anybody confirm this or did somebody manage to burn an iso properly with nero and the chapters did work afterwards?

would be great to get some onfo on this.

best regards

I burn all my rips with Nero and the chapters work fine

the only problem I have is when I do very low bitrate movies w/chapters, for some reason the chapters do funky things.

but thats another story. if you can mount the image with Daemon Tools (http://www.daemon-tools.com/) and then watch with PowerDVD and the chapters work there, I would say the problem could lie with standalone commpatibility. you could go over to www.vcdhelp.com and check their dvd players list to see if others have had probs using chapters.

If you burn with the foolproof way from Q&A, you can use every burning-application, also NERO.
Try a search with wincdr and you will see that empty coasters without an error message result by a wrong serial number.

Hi again

I burn the bin with Nero and DaemonTool 8x. No problems with chapters they work fine on an ELTA 8891 Philips701 and Philips722 (Philips has problems with cheap CDR, blocks, freezing and hicking)

I'm using a Philips standalone, and I've tried the PBC setting on and off with no luck making the chapters work. Im burning with NERO, and I've tried setting the DVD2SVCD at the default setting, and also fixed chapters every 10 minutes. Neither setting works. I've heard that Philips is great for SVCD technology, and Im wondering if my chapters setting in DVD2SVCD could be wrong.

Are you burning the BIN/CUE files or just the mpg files?

Im just burning the mpeg file. Is there a FAQ on bin/que files? Do I have to put them in certain folders that NERO sets up on the SVCD?

You must burn the Bin/CUE files or you won't get chapters.

Read the Q+A.

You don't use Nero's SVCD template at all.
You use burn image or the Fool Proof Method described in the Q+A.

BTW time to upgrade that version. You are way behind.

Sorry, I got lost in your FAQ's, Sticky's and Q&A's. Can you give me a link? Thank you.

Go on. You caught me in a generous mood.

tells you all you need to know.

Okay, I looked in all the FAQ's, Sticky's, and used the search engine for over an hour, but didn't find any basic instructions on what files to burn and how to make the chapters to work. After making a phone call to a friend, he told me what to do:

Open NERO. Close that New File Wizard thing that pops up. Go to File-->Burn Image. When it asks what file to burn, choose the *.cue file. Somehow, the cue file automatically works with the *.bin file and that's how you get your chapters working. :D
