Vob conversion NTFC to PAL

I've downloaded a number of DD and DTS trailers and I want to make a DVD with them. So I have a few questions:

1. I have DVDMaestro so I have to somehow demux the .vob file to .m2v and .ac3 (.dts). What is the easyest way to do this? Can DVD2AVI do it? What about DTS? I found out that SmartRipper can output .m2v and .ac3(.dts) but can it and how handle single .vob files (not DVDs with .ifo, .but and so on structure)?

2. Most of the trailers are NTSC but I have a few in PAL. As far as I'm in Europe I think it will be better and easier to convert the NTSC trailers to PAL. How can I do this? Again is it possible to do it directly on the .vob or .m2v file and not on a whole DVD with structure (like DVD2SVCD)?

3. Finaly is it possible to burn the resulting structure (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) from DVDMaestro to CD-R (or CD-RW) instead of to DVD-R?
I know my DVD Player can play CD-RW discs but I'm not sure it can play DVD-R.

1. much easier to use tmpgenc and its mpeg tools to demux the streams then import them into dvdmaestro.

2. unfortunately to convert NTSC to PAL and vice versa, you will have to decode the m2v to and avi and use other programs such as the canopus one, or there are some avisynth scripts which can do it also.

3. your dvd player is more likely to play DVD-R rather than DVD content burnt to CD (miniDVD).

can you give me more specific explaination, because it's my first time doing this and even after reading a few guides I still can't do it myself.

1. How exactly TMPGEnc can demux the .vob? will it work with DTS?
2. Can you explain to me more about those avisynth scripts or tell me where I can read more? What is conopus?

2. www.canopuscorp.com and avisynth scripts are everywhre, not sure if there is a ntsc/pal conversion on in the forums somewhere, but it shouldnt be hard to find.

I still haven't tried the options of TMPGEnc yet but I have a request:
Will someone post his avsynth scripts that convert a NTSC mpeg file (m2v from DVD (720x480)) to PAL mpeg file (m2v from DVD (720x576))?

I still haven't found a simple enough and good at the sime time explaination (guide) of avisynth and scripts. So, please, post some links!:confused:

Now I've read a lot about avisynth have some ideas how to use it.
my question now is:
can someone tell me how should I resize the video so I keep the same aspect ratio in the new PAL DVD?
the sources I have are 720x480 both 4:3 and 16:9 anamorphic
Should I only add some black bars on top and bottom or should I resize?

well, 720x480 and 720x576 when played back will be played at 4:3 or 16:9, depending on the flag, so resize will do.

I strongly suspect that you would have big issues with the footage if it is interlaced. If it's not interlaced, resize would be fine, but bear in mind that frames will be dropped and the look will be quite jerky if you study the footage closer.

The Canopus format converter (also in Pro Coder) isn't bad and will produce far superior results, and it's not too shabby with interlaced footage either.
