Looking to copy home vhs to dvd

Hi,

Im not really sure about how to go about this. but my mother has some home movies she's made over the years that are on vhs. What we would like to do is rip the movies from vhs and then make a dvd that is playable on our apex ad1500(?). Ive searched around a bit but haven't seen anything that will really help me. Im looking for some info on what hardware and software I would need to do this. I was thinking about getting a ati AIW 7500 and the pioneer A04 writer. On the software side I really dont know how to go about ripping the vcr and then encoding it in a way we can play it on the dvd player.

the AIW can capture from a VCR to DVD compliant files fine, (will need to demux the capture file for most authoring programs.

on the authoring software size, i think you can get the A04 with an authoring app, otherwise a simple program like spruceup or similar.

the other option is a DVD-VCR which can capture from almost anywhere to a dvd compliant disc, although they are rather expensive atm
