This isn't really related to DVD ripping or anything, but I figured the crowd here would probably be one of the best for helping me with this.
I have an AVI file (> 100mb) that, when loaded in most every player, shows a length of 59 seconds. The video seems to kinda get 'jumpy' every so often. And at the very end of it, the clocks on each player will stop at 0:58 out of 0:59. However, the audio will continue playing for several seconds before it too cuts out.
Now, when I initially saw noticed this, it struck me as very odd that a fairly low quality mpg and apparently short mpg could be over 100mb in size.
The next thing I noticed, is that if I specifically scan to a specific spot, I will get a "new part" to the video that I won't see by just hitting play and letting it go. Example: I can click roughly in the middle of the play bar (what seems to be 0:30 seconds) and see something new. But, again, it will only play up to 0:59, so I will only see about 30 seconds of video.
The only player that I found to do somethign different was PowerDVD. It seems to be able to play the video straight through correctly--- except it will not play the audio track.
Virtual Dub will not even open the file (says "MPEG Import filter: unexpected end of file"). Adobe Premiere will open it, but will only see the initial 0:59 of it. I tried loading it as a clip in Premeire, and then resaving it as a new avi, but that gave a much smaller avi that was still 0:59, and missing the 'extra' video.
I've tried redownloading the file several times, but each one gives the same thing. Makes me wonder if I'm not doing something right...
Anyone have any ideas on this?
