I can't cut off about 6 secs of video from one part of the avi with Virtualdub. No matter where I cut it, it always bounces back to where I wanted to have it cut off in the first place. Either that or it cuts off too far ahead. So I'm either going to have part of the ending episode or missing some of the next episode...
Even when I clip off and delete the part I don't want and it plays like I want in Virtualdubs preview it won't save that way. Is there another program or way I can cut off those extra unwanted frames?

Cuts can only be made at keyframes. You use GKnot -- so, either make your cuts with dvd2avi using the "[" and "]" buttons, or encode in DivX3, where you can manually adjust keyframe locations to the exact frames you want.

Or perhaps use AviSynth's Trim command to encode each episode separately, join when done in order to add the Audio, and then split again.

To make cuts in DVD2AVI I would have to encode it again then right? I don't think its possible to do it with my finished vob avi.
Or is that what everyone normally does? And not use the full vob and clip it by episodes..?

It doesnt work. it crashes for both passes at around 50% for both in divx5. And I refuse to use divx3.

When I tried doing the cut in DVD2AVI and then ITVC it with Divx5. I had the subtitle files after resize. That didnt work. Then I tried before ITVC still didn't work. I then used the greedy method of deinterlacing the video and that worked. Is there even any difference between the ITVC and greedy method?

Inverse Telecine (IVTC) is for Telecined content. Click on http://www.doom9.org/synch.htm and review the section labelled 35mm Film to NTSC Video Conversion.
De-interlacing without IVTC is used for interlaced content that is not Telecined.
GreedyHMA is one of several AviSynth filters that can be used for either IVTC or de-interlacing. With GKnot 0.26, the default IVTC is the DeComb filter set (Telecide and Decimate). These filters can also be used to de-interlace (Telecide alone, or Telecide with Decimate mode=1). GreedyHMA, as you've discovered, can also be used for both purposes.
