Is it ok to use a sharpie indelible marker to put names on backedup discs?

Sharpie's are oil based markers. CDr's and DVD-r's are also oil based products. When sharpie's are used on these dics, the ink slowly leeches deeper and deeper into the material. Over time this will destroy the disc.

There are special cd labeling pens that are water based, that are specifically formulated to label optical media. Please, never ever use a Sharpie on any optical media! It is a ticking timebomb.
