After following doom's guide for cce i managed to a encode a couple of movies to fit to one dvd each (4.5 per movie). The picture quality looks excellent on my pc but when i play it on my standalone dvd connnected to a 43" projection tv it looks kinda strange. The slow scenes look excellent, just like the original DVD but on the fast moving scenes it looks like the picture has vertical lines (as if the picture is made by groups of vertical thick lines) and the dark scenes look kinda grainy, shadows look awful-like missing some colors or something.
Taking a closer look at the vfapi converted file in my monitor it seems that these strange effects are generated at that stage, so probably when the movie is encoded with cce the picture distortion is already there, so that is not a cce problem.
Anyone had this problem before? (it's very hard to spot the problem using a small computer monitor or a small tv). Should i try frameserving with avisynth ? Would it make any difference on picture quality ?
