Should I give up encoding...?!?!
It depends on what other aspects of your life you have forgotten ;)

I am nobody to advise you, but if you allow me, I really
think that you must consider invest time in other aspects
of life, like learning a career for example.
You don't have to quit encoding after all, just make sure
that you devote the right amount of time and that you
keep busy doing other things.
I openly tell you, encoding is just a hobby for me, most of the
time I am working, trying to learn new things, at the end of the
day, to keep my mind busy, I try to achieve the best quality for
my favorite movie rips.

If I may comment. I think encoding is a hobby for all of us here. Even most of the programmers that give us all this free software do it on their spare time. Thanks DSPguru and Koepi! I started to encode my movies because I was interested in how those guys online could share their movies and I wanted to learn how to do it for my self. I started off with a shit 700 MHZ machine and upgraded to a 1600 XP althlon, mainly because of my encoding, but it serves great for anything. So yeah I may be addicted to encoding and spend time on the forums checking for new posts and people I can help, but in the end it's just for fun.

Wow...thank you all..:)
Let me say my word before the Mod stop this coz' out of subject.
I just can not stop pursuing the highest encoding quality and it costs a lot..a lot times.
How many of you have encoded the same movie more than 1x ? how about 2x ? 10x? And still thinking which setting is the best while you eating, sleeping, working, driving, f*ing, etc. As a human, we never can be satisfied. It drives me crazy.

:) I have encoded the same movie 5 times, of course, only those I really love. Right now, I am encoding Ninja Scroll for the 5th time using Ogg Vorbis as the audio stream.
I must also say that sometimes, this hobbie, it is a little frustrating for me :(, why?, because I can't fit Lord of the Rings in only one CD-R. ;)

Encoding is a my biggest hobby as well...almost an obsession. I encode each movie at least 3 times (and sometimes more depending on if it's worth it) to get to satisfactory quality. The movie I use to test experimental settings (X-Men), i.e. new filters and stuff, I've encoded over 20 times already :)
Ps.
Next time please give your thread a better subject name as per rule #9.
