Anyone out there who knows how to convert the cinematics in warcraft III into MPEG2?

What I've tried so far:
1. Renamed all cinematics.mpq to cinematics.avi
2. Used TMPG Encoder to convert .avi files into SVCD(PAL)
3. Burned the files with Nero

I have a stand alone DVD thats support vcd's. But I only got the sound, picture was missing. any ideas anyone??

Heard something about an mpq extractor once. Maybe that would do the trick?

Maybe because you converted and burned in SVCD format, but you say your player supports VCD?

SVCD and VCD are different formats. Unless your player specifically says it supports SVCD then it probably doesn't.

No need for an .mpq extractor for these, it seems, since they play fine once you rename them to .avi.

Rename the Files to .avi, open them in VirtualDub and change the FourCC code to DIVX while opening. Now save them using "Direct Stream Copy". Now they should work.

or in tmpgenc go to the settings, vafpi plugins and disable all avi loading except directshow multimedia reader. then load as normal and picture is fine.

if you do a properties on these files you find its using a special divx version. crashes if you try to change settings. :)

if got the dvd that came with the special edition it obviously produces better and is much higher quality, if you dying for the cinematics go on ebay and try to win the cinematics dvd, it comes with the collectors edition of the game
