I've just come across the software, the Ahead site says the following :-
Converts any avi/mpg or DVD movie
Bypasses any regional encryption information
Copy/rip from your DVD drive, playback on computer CD drive or home DVD player
No Image Loss! Same as original DVD!
Convenient Step-by-Step Instructions and Software
I know it talks of copying to CD, but this might not be a problem for DVD copiers.
Anyone using or tried this ??

I haven't investigated this in the slightest, but I must say I would be ASTONISHED if Ulead had come up with a method which completely trumped the best efforts of our experienced ripping/re-encoding team here on Doom9. I don't mean that arrogantly - I simply mean that months and months of trial and error have gone into making the Doom9 guides, and these take advantage of the best software MPEG2 encoders/transcoders there are, bar *NONE*. If Ulead have an encoder/transcoder which performs better than CCE-SP or TMPGEnc, in terms of quality, then I'll be beating a path to their virtual doorstep in no time at all.
I'll watch this topic with interest, but notice I'm not running just yet... ;)

Arky,
I think you're right. I was quite surprised at some of the statements made on the site, but what I wrote was direct quotes from their site.
I might be able to get my hands on a copy next week, so I'll keep the board posted.

benf2,
You got the right site, I wasn't paying too much attention at the time. I guess reading the blurb, I was reading what I wanted to see, I guess I should have known better !!!
Arky said is was Ulead, I thought it was Ahead. Looking at their packaging, it looks like a Ulead product, I thought it was Ahead, because they were also offering Nero.
On the face of it both of us were "taken in"
Looks like I'll have to pay more attention in future.
HomerJ :)
