Hello !
Could you tell me what codec to open a .ts file with ?
I do not know if this is the right sub-board for the question, since I don't know if it IS a new A/V format .
Regards,
Jan .

TS means TeleSync (and usually means: BAD quality since it's a camera in the cinema).
This has nothing to do with the used codec, sorry.

Hello !
Thanks .
I was not asking for myself but for a forum I work in,
so i was not able to check myself if it was a normal codec :-)
I'll forward this answer, then .
Ciao,
Jan .

Maybe not relevant here but .ts files can also be ATSC transport stream files. They can be opened with the save-oe version of DVD2AVI or with Xmuxer or HDTV2mpeg.

Hum, thanks! But i don't think you'll find something like that on the net. it's propably a bad capture of MIB.

There's a little bit of it but it's fairly hard to miss. HDTV stuff captures at about 8.5 GB / hour. ;)

When being precise the atsc is the worst standard creator ever. When doing digital tv standards they ended up something like 34 different standards, which all need different hardware to play, while european dvb(digital video broadcasting) standard specifies 3 different standards (dvb-s, dvb-t, dvb-c [satellite, terrestrial, cabel]). So instead of getting 30 different devices to watch digital tv, in europe you need only 2(because t and c versions can be played with same machine and satellite only has different tuner).
Forget atsc! Korea choosed atsc and they have now changing to dvb, because they have so many technical problems(like seeing only analog channels and reception coditions where the digital picture would be mostly needed and where the dvb standard could handle it because of different signal modulation technique).
