I tried to split a dvd-9 disc into 2 discs for the first time last night. The disc was "Vanilla Sky." I followed the guide to the letter. First I split most of the movie to disc 1 and put the extras on disc 2 along with the rest of the movie. Then I tried the opposite. Right now I am stuck with only one of the discs working. I am using Power DVD XP to check the discs. Disc 1 plays the opening Paramount logo (title 10) and then tries to play title 8, which as far as I can tell, is a blank screen. It says title 8 on the player, and then it just stops. Can't get any further. Disc 2 simply starts playing the second part of the movie. I expected the menu to come up since I have every VTS set on this disc. So I'm confused as to what's going on. Anyone try to split Vanilla Sky with success? Thanks for the help.

I just checked my copy and it looks like you have some stuff missing on disc 1. You need to have the sets VIDEO_TS, VTS_01 (which is Title 8), and VTS_03 (which is Title 10) in addition to VTS_02 (the movie itself) in order for the DVD to play properly. If you are missing any of these sets (and my guess is that you are missing VTS_01), then your DVD will not play.

Naturally, I figured out what I did wrong just after I posted the message. I was missing VTS_02_0.VOB. All works fine now, of course. Thanks for the help.
