i've narrowed it down to a refresh rate problem.
The tv downstairs can handle 50 and 60hz PAL and ntsc signal, where as the one in my bedroom can only do 50hz pal.
Despite there being a switch on the converter to change between 50 and 60hz, for some reason it has no effect and only changes through software.
One problem, the software is very old and isnt compatible with XP :( If I run the dos based program that came with it to change the signal it works in dos, but has no effect in windows.
Anyone know of any kind of generic tool to do this for me? What about forcing my default 640x480 res to 50hz in windows? It's taken me ages to find out what the problem is, so i'd like to fix it :)
Thanks,
