discoloration on 16:9 borders

I found an article here in the forums that touched upon my problem which is the grey bars that show up above the black bars on my ripped 16:9 dvds. The article basically said set the luminescence in cce from something to 0-255. How do I go about doing this ? I checked the encoder tab and was not immediately able to see how to set this up. Forgive me if this a dupe post for this issue but please help me with the keywords or links to find the needed information if it is already out there as I did check the faq, search, and google prior to asking.

rvwinkle, once you have your avi loaded, doulble click on it. Then click the video tab, and on the top there should be two buttons: one for 0-255 and the other 16-235. Try using 0-255. I am going to try this also, since I am getting those grey bars and usually use 16-235. It's worth a try.
