I am trying to split DVD9 TO 2 OFF DVD +RW's. >The file saving and transferr to the 2 folders is fine.
>I have 3 other problems that do not seem to be mentioned or covered in any forums.
>The problems are:
>
> 1.-After the split point is made it is not always in numerical chapter sequence.
>The only logical reference is sometimes only the programme chain ID.
For example.........."Lord of the rings".
>In this case there is often the same number chapters on either side of the split point.
>What should the settings be for chapter numbers under VMG-PTT-SRPT it these cases?
>Are there any other settings to change in this event?

>2. Must ALL the IFO files on the final 2 discs be manually opened and Get VTS sectors adjusted?
>Is there any order if this is necessary?

>3. Finally,
>When burning to disc......(using IFO edit)..
>After starting up IFO edit, does it matter which IFO file gets opened?
>The comment comes back that the files are needed to be in a VIDEO TS folder.
>I then make a folder called this and put the IFO files into it.
>>From here it appears ok UNTIL................
>When pressing the make image, it nominates invalid parameters and cannot find imglib.dll.
>In any event this would have only created the IFO files since they are the only ones I've placed into this new VIDEO TS folder.
>This is obviously wrong.
>What needs to be done as it is not mentioned anywhere?
>
>Here's hoping someone can help me and many others over here in
>Australia.

gearo,

Sorry, not sure I understand your first question.

question 2

Answer. No, ALL IFOs need to be adjusted, but IFoedit will do this for you automatically, but does "prompt" in each case.

Question 3

The reason why "imgtool.dll" is missing is because you need to download a new application called "imgtool".

This can be found from the front page of doom9>downloads>VOB tools>show me more

Look for "imgtool.dll"

When you install it, make sure it's in the same directory as Ifoedit.

Thanks for the info.
I'll give it a go and keep in contact.
My first question relates to nominating the chapters after the file is split.
Lord of the Rings seems to have many of the same chapter numbers on the second disc's files as the first. They are not in numerical sequence from disk 1 thru to disk 2.
Chapter numbers get repeated throughout both disk 1 and 2.
The only thing that seems to be in consecutive order is the PROGRAMME CHAIN ID. (although I have not found any mention of need to get play with this area so it's probably not needed)
So, how would I set the chapter numbers on each disk when editing using VMG PTT SRPT?
Hope this is a bit clearer and hope you can help.
Thanks.

gearo,

When I split a DVD-9 I use Smartripper (movie mode).

I only rip the first half of the movie (deselect the 2nd half) Do all the usual things.

I then rip it a 2nd time, but deselect the first half. Using the same set of IFOs for both discs.

DON'T FORGET, WHEN COPYING ACROSS FROM DVD TO HARD DISC IN SMARTRIPPER TO START SAVING YOUR VOBS AS VTS_01

What you end up with is 2 discs with about 7 chapters on each. Both discs having chapters numbering 1-7.

It doesn't get much easier than this.

It's a very crude method, the movie starts playing straight off, but the quality is of course maintained.

Hope that helps
