Vibrating Final images

When I have completed a DVD2SVCD creation, on SOME finished jobs I have these worries -

The image (as being watched on the TV) is vibrating. When there is no action, just people hanging around, or whatever, the images are fine. As soon as some action starts the motion of the movement is either BLURRY or vibrating. Any clues? This only happens on some finished jobs. The other thing I notice is - on maybe every second disc I do the .cue sheet wont read in CDRWIN and I have to resort to using the BMUXED.MPG file and record it in NERO, thus losing my CD IMAGE picture.

I am using version 109 DVD2SVCD. I have a Pentium III 1000mhz.

First off welcome to doom9 the best place on the net to find the answers to your dvd needs. Ok first off post your log files they are in the folder where you did the movie. Also it sounds like it could be interlaced why dont you run the vob files in dvd2avi and see if its film or interlaced...

Hi!,

I have the same problem. I tried to encode "So Little Time". Its a TV serial. I specified "IVTC (slow as hell)" instead of automatic detection and still it's jerkey. The whole DVD was 2:17 hours with six episodes on it. Each episode is 1 chapter on the DVD. What I did is, I specified 1st 3 chapters to go on 1 CD. The total time was 68 min and few seconds and then I specified next 3 chapters (in another folder) which was also 68 mins and few seconds to rip. Then I ran the Batch file to finish both the encodes. Here's my LOG file for the first CD (1st 3 chapters).

Also, on more thing. After the above CD is created the chapters were way off, although I opted for PBC selection on DVD instead of fixed chapters. I have seen this happening everytime I specify the chapters to be encoded instead of encoding the whole movie in D2S 1.0.9 B3. Since, this is not a big issue as I know how to fix the XML and create the BIN/CUE files, I always manually fix this problem.

Can someone help me with this jerky encode problem?

Yeah - I have looked for 5 days and cant seem to find ANYTHING about the CUE sheets not working - OR the shaky final foot age. . . I'm at a loss. . .

Ummh ... you did not post the non-working cue-sheet (because none was ever created), but the dvd2svcd log. You should consider posting the vcxbuilder.log because vcdimager failed, not your cue sheet :). But perhaps it's as easy as eliminating all the blank spaces from your path.

As you can see at the end of your Logfile, you have only 678MB space left on your drive to create the cue/bin, that's not enough. So free some space and do a CrashRecovery, that should solve your problem.

I searched the forum for "Jerky image", "jerky Video", "Jerky Picture", "Unstable video" etc etc..

Most the issues refer to ver old builds and not a single one refering to the new builds 1.0.9 and above.

But, I stille followed the following 2 advice, from what I got from searching the forum:

1) The bitrate may be going too low
-- I tried to re-encode just one chapter that's just 22 mins for the whole CD and still the same jerky picture. The picture is jerky even when I pay the bbMpeg file in WinDVD or bbMpeg muxed with subtitles in WinDVD. And they are also jerky on my standalone player APEX 1500.

The above re-encode was done using IVTC again but this time I choose "SmartDeinterlace" too and I checked the Min. Avg rate to default 1600 (which was not checked on my first try).

2) Some one said, the field orders could be a problem
-- IN both my encodes it was set to automatic. I read that a wrong field order will result in VERY jerky picture and not like having jerks only when the characters move. So, I guess this option doesn't apply and I didn't try to set the field order.

Also, I tested the VOB with the Bitrate Viewer. Here's the information:

I guess the classical motion jerkiness and YOUR motion jerkiness are two different things. The classical motion jerkiness is due to an encode done as interlaced setting wrong field order, and it is realy anoying. Your problem here is a different one: an IVTC performed when it should not be performed. No one NTSC video source can be IVTCed. I repeat: no one video, like most of porno movies and tv shows, can be IVTCed.

You can see that telecide and decimate were used. Telecide is a sort of deinterlace filter (which is fine to use for video sources when we need to decrease the amount of bit to be used). After it, decimate(5) was performed too. This means that 1 frame from each group of 5 frames were discarded, generating the "jerky motion".

To avoid this, set "force film: off" and turn on a deinterlace filter of your choose (i.e. smartdeinterlace).

Donald Graft did a good job with that filter (read the html file at DRIVE:\dvd2svcd_path\inversetelecine\decomb folder for more info).
