This thing is driving me nuts! I've got it working ok on the tv downstairs but I want it for in my bedroom.

I have to boot into windows xp using the vga only mode, and as soon as I try and change the display settings it corrupts the pictures and I cant see what im doing.

The wierd thing is, when I reset the computer after this problem I get a flickering with black lines. (you know when you turn a psx on, and you get three black lines as soon as you turn the power on? those sort) I think it has something to do with the refresh rate, despite the fact that ive set it to 50hz on the convertor. It happens on the post screen, bio, everywhere!

The only way I can solve it is by plugging in the ati AIW ive got and using the tv out on that, and that plugging in the scan convertor again... I dont have a clue why that fixes it. I may just stick with the AIW, but its not very fast for anything else and a scan convertor would be more practical and i can keep my geforce(ive got a choice between the two).

Has anyone got any ideas how to fix my problem? I've got it connect via a scart cable to my vcr which goes to my tv. Its an old box so there's only an aerial connection on it. I've also tried the video input, but instead of the flickering its just a blank screen.

do you mean the output on the tv gets corrupted or on the monitor ? or is the tv your only display and you cant check this ?
if it is the tv then make sure you doesnt switch to a too high resolution or a too high refresh rate. most scan converters are a bit limited in this way. <1024x768 and <75Hz should be save.

but then you said it works on your other tv...

i think this ones dead old, i've almost given up with it. (borrowed off a friend). It only supports 640x480@60hz and 800x600x56hz but I cant get anything to work.

I think i'll just by the aiw instead, but like I said i dont want to loose my geforce but i guess ill have to swap cards occasionally.

The corrupted display happens on both tv sets when you try to change the res. But the fickering at the boot up only happens when the convertors connected to a vcr. My downstairs tv has a scart on it and if you plug it directly into that instead of the vcr first it works ok, but upstairs i have to go through it and the flickering still happens... I think its all refresh rate related, and the tv downstairs can go at 60hz where the one upstairs cant. For some reason its causings lots of trouble. Too many headaches I think, time to put the aiw back in :)
