Hello all,

I recently ripped a movie that wound up being one of my best quality rips ever... I was so happy.. till I realized I selected the wrong audio track. So now, I want to change the audio track from french to english.

I direct stream copied the video in virtual dub with no audio, so now I need to extract the english audio from the vob's and then join them with the audioless video.

Any suggestions on the best way to do this would be appreciated. I could probably just re-rip the movie quicker, but I'd like to learn all the tools that are available.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Well just create another DVD2AVI project, but this time select the right AC3 file in the audio menu. Then it's as simple as using Besweet to encode the AC3 into an MP3.

If you need help use Doom9's guide to making an MP3
http://www.doom9.org/ac3tomp3.htm

Then after that use Nandub, not Virtualdub to mux the avi and mp3 file.

I'll start that right away... thanks for the quick response and of course for your knowledge.

Very appreciated.

First, I wanted to say thanks because doing this worked fine.

But I did have one question...

The mp3 audio file I got from BeSweet plays fine in winamp and stayed in sync when combined with the video using nandub, but the volume in the combined video is low. I know there is a volume option in nandub, but it was unselectable for some reason.

The problem is that if I have to turn the computer and wave volume up so loud for the movie volume to be at a listenable level that I have to make sure I don't get an instant message or anything cause it's so loud it'd blow my speakers up.

Is there any other way to combine the audio and retain it's volume level because like I said, the mp3's volume is fine when I play it alone in winamp.

Thanks again for you info. Believe me, I'm just happy to have made it work, but I'll probably just redo the whole movie again in gknot so the volume is correct, but that is time consuming.

Cheers,
Stanky

Thats kinda wierd, but in Besweet you can increase the volume. Sorry i don't know the command, but look around the audio forum. Don't post there because you will probly get flamed, I probly will too for not knowing. But I never had to use it, I have just seen it around in the forums. But I think all you need to do is change the Dynamic Compression to heavy. Try that and see if you like it. Otherise, go search the forums.

Thanks again... I'll have to look into that because I didn't manually use BeSweet to get the mp3 file... I converted the audio to mp3 using gordian knot (it's still BeSweet, but I don't need to do anything except hit the 'encode audio - no video' button.

And I suspect it is a nandub issue anyway because the audio alone (prior to adding the video) plays at a normal level. So this question may be in the wrong forum...

OK... I'll keep looking around. Thanks.
