I am using the full registered Pro version of DivX 5.02, and lately I get a lot of frozen frames in my encoded movies!

So my question is

1. Did any of you have that problem?
2. Is there a version of VirtualDub that can check frozen frames? (there is one for DivX 3.11 but it can't detect frozen frames in DivX5)
3. Is there maybe a filter for DivX5 that can play videos with frozen frames?

By the way it happens no matter what options I use in the codec!

Any suggestions?

Disable "Smooth Playback" in the decoder config. It's a bug in the current version.

I tried that and I encoded again but alas! I still get frozen frames!

It is driving me nuts!

Frozen frames DON'T exist in DivX 5. It's a decoder problem; it could be many things. Play with the different DivX decoder settings.

Hello,

I have got the same problem.

Playable with ffdshow (no problems at all), but gets frozen with DivX5-decoder. What's wrong? Will reencoding fix it? Any hints?

I had enabled Smooth Playback without knowing it - after turning it off, everything works fine.

That seems to be a bug of the DivX-decoder.

Got 2 'frozen' frames in the first movie I encoded with DivX5 :( Is it always like that?

@ ohliuv
There is no frozen frames with DivX5.
It is as explained above: you have "smooth playback" enabled (so you got to disable it), or your machine is too weak to handle the high resolution you selected (so rerip again with a lower resolution, that your PC can handle easily)

I had the frozen frames problem on my latest encode and smooth playback was not checked. I eliminated the problem by uninstalling DivX5 codecs and reinstalling.

got plenty of those in Velvet Goldmine...

seems like it freezes only on I-frames, anyone else checked that?
