I hope you guys don't find my newbie questions so stupid you are getting ready to throw me off the board but here goes. I have ripped 2 DVDs to SVCD and both came out great but I noticed that both had 4 cue files but the 4th cue file was just a tiny little file and all it really turned out to be was the movie company logo. Is it common to get a extra bin file that is only something like that? Also, the movie I just ripped to Svcd is 188 minutes long and it took 3 disks. When I play each disk the DVD player states the time as being 39-40 minutes. Well that falls far short of 188 minutes? I mean 3 disks at 40 minutes is only 120 minutes, yet I have the full movie. Does the DVD player read the time wrong? And last is if the temporal smoother makes encoding time 40 percent longer, is it really needed? Does it make that much of a difference? I encode during the day when Im not home so time is not a problem. Thanks guys for any help.

I think we can solve your problem here, but we need your logfile.
Maybe you should first read the Q&A/FAQ and the sticky 'how to make a good post'. So you know how to choose a correct subject and what to post if you got problems.
After reading you will be able to give us enough information and I think we will be able to give some help. :)

If you have a Philips DVD player it is "normal" the total time of a SVCD Disc is always shown as 39m51s is longer than 39m51s (on a 80 min disc). The time displayed during playback is then slower than normal in the same ratio as the total time differs from the correct time eg. if a disc is 60 min, 39m51s is shown as total playing time and a change of one second during playback takes about 1.5 seconds...

@Catman209
Like Labersack said we should be able to help you but we are going to need your logfile first. As far as temporal smoothing goes, as many people will tell you, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Try a movie when you arent home and see what you think of the finished product. If you think that the quality difference is worth the time then do that. If you think that its not worth it then dont do it.

Thanks for the help. I did not send a log file because I do have a Phillips player and I have confirmed it that is why the time is off. Im off now reading on how to be a good poster :)
