I can edit the VIDEO_TS.ifo of Disc 1 to the correct # of chapters (18)
But when I load Disc 2 in the DVD IfoEdit player, 'Chapter 19 plays' but shows as Chapter 1 in the IfoEdit player. When I advance the arrow to the next chapter (Chapter 20), it shows up as chapter 21 in IfoEdit. All the chapters in disc 2 are off by 1 additional number. ie...Chapter 22 should be 21, 23 s/b 22 and so on...
Also in the IfoEdit player, the chapter drop down screen, shows chapters 1-51, but chapters 1-20 only points to chapter '1' (actually 19 in PH). So what I have are chapters 1-20, that don't point to anything other than the first chapter of the Disc (actually Ch 19 in PH)
Am I suppose to either add or delete chapters to get it right? Is it possible to get Disc 2 to show Chapters 19-50, or am I stuck to just having Disc 2 to show Chapters 1- 41

i noticed this too...
i am not sure what's going on with the 2nd disc. it seems the first chapter is called 1, but after that they start at where you split the original disc.
i think perhaps derrow is playing some tricks to try to get the menus to work...
anyway i prefer it if it just labels them 1-8 or whatever...forget the lame menus anyway. i don't even use the menus.
i noticed on my friend's Apex, the 2nd disc was messed up...it played the first chapter incorrectly using this new method....
derrow my friend, Please give the option to use the old method of numbering the chapters on the 2nd disc? i don't want to go back to using 0.9.0.0 because of the various bugs you fixed since then...
p.s. my oritron plays the 2nd disc ok...but i thought Apex were very compatible

Ok, I made a backup of Apocalypse Now, and its perfectly fine. even the 2nd disc is fine.
In fact, if you go into the menus you can select the appropriate chapter and it does go to the correct chapter.

I split Shawshank Redemption to 2 discs with menus. From the chapter menu of either disc, I can access chapters just like a real DVD. There are no illegal chapter navigations. So that is not a problem.
The problem I have is when Disc 2 is played with Power DVD, Chapter 1 starts (actually it's Ch 21 of the movie) Now here is what I find. I can not advance out of chapter 1 in Power DVD with the 'advance chapter arrow' of the Power DVD player. I can only advance out of Chapter 1 using either the Chapter menu, or the drop down menu in Power DVD. If I let chapter 1 play on it's own, and when the movie gets to the next chapter (Ch 22), I can then advance chapters via Power DVD's chapter advance arrow.
Also, there seem to be 'dummy chapters' in disc 2 Chapters 1-20 all play chapter 21. I suppose that is the only way to fix Chapter menu navigation.
So I gather, we can not have disc 2 show only chapters 21-40, but rather disc 2 must also include the 'dummy chapters' of 1-20 to go along with the actual chapters of the 2nd disc (Chapters 21-40)
Is that correct? or has anybody else made a split with menu and had Disc 2 show only chapters 21-40. Also what does a disc like this do in a standalone, as I can not test on standalone DVD.
Findings....???

Well, as long as it works on my standalone I'm happy.
I suppose PowerDVD doesn't do something right..
How about when you play it back using the DVD playback feature in Ifoedit?

When I play back Disc 2 in IfoEdit, I can advance from chapter 1 with the chapter advance arrow in the IfoEdit player, and it jumps to the next chapter (chapter 22 of my movie)
only won't let me advance in Power DVD.. I must let Chapter 1 play in real time until it gets to chapter 2...then all is good.
Disc 1 has no problem.
So it does work. How does it work with a stand alone?
What number chapter does your stand alone DVD player show when you play Disc 2?
Does it show Chapter 1 or another number?
and can you advance immediatly to the next chapter....

Same deal here.. when you split lets say 30 chapters to 2 CD's disc 1 chapters 1 - 15 are there.. and play in order fine.. disc two are also Chapters 1 -15 but are actually 16-30, even though they show up on the standalone as 1 to 15 they work fine.. Im sure there is something you can edit and make them show up as 15 to 30 but I havent bothered.. the forwarding to next chapter works fine on the 2nd disc and I just run with that.

I'm with you Sephan - I have split many DVD's to 2 x discs and as long as I can jump through the chapters on disc 2, I don't care what they are called. I'm sure that if you had the time (and were that bothered) you could change them in one of the tables.
Just 2 things to watch out for thought - Illegal navigation & disc 2 late start. See these threads for more information
