I was trying to backup Harry Potter and was using the guide from doom9

Copying a DVD-9 to 2 DVD-Rs - last updated 03/09/02
How to create 2 single layer DVDs from a dual layer disc

First disk worked fine no problem. But I am having problem with second DVD-r.

1: Rip the DVD
2: Split the DVD
3: Adjust the number of chapters
4: Make the disc region free
5: Remove User option prohibitions
6: Final sector adjustments
7: Burn the DVD using DVDitPE

I could not find the file video_ts.vob and its not on the first disk (first plays fine). If I play DVD-r using PowerDVD works great but start with FBIW and i have to use root menu from configuration then averything works. When I put CD in the DVD player it does not work at all. I think something wrong with video_ts.ifo file.
Please help ....Burn CD 1 and no luck with second.

whenever i split a 9 to two 5's, i keep the menu on the first disc.
on the second disk, just have the movie start playing (without a menu).
i do this by opening the vts-ifo file in ifoedit, movie only option, strip streams, make sure all streams are checked (if you wish), and send the output to a sub folder called VIDEO_TS.

when it's finished, launch an ifo file from the new directory in ifoedit, get vts_sectors, then play dvd.

did this to lord of rings and it works fine.

I split HP into 2 discs with menu and playback is just fine.

Here are my steps for HP.

Ripped entire DVD.....Launched IfoEdit 091 and selected 'Split to 2 DVD-R'
After the split was complete, I copied the required files to both new folders.

Fixed the chapters to match up with the amount per Disc

Made Disc 2 start at the movie ( not menu)

Get VTS sectors.

Burned with Nero 5.5.9 and discs play fine in standalones and DVD rom

Only problems are when I enter the menu 'Search by Chapter' and click a chapter that is not in Disc 1, I get a navigation error. When I try to 'Search by Chapter' in Disc 2, and click on any chapter, I get navigation error.

Other than that, Disc 1 & 2 play fine.

But this problem is fixed in IfoEdit 0932, so you won't get Illegal navigation during Chapter search anymore.

Hope this helps............jazzie
