I am a newbie to DVD2SVCD
I have a pioneer 535 has anyone tested to see if it is compatible with mpeg 5:1 (i believe I read devine was going to test it)?
Also is it true that one can only use I-Author to Image/ cut 5:1 - are there any alternatives as I do not have I-Author.

You can look at vcdhelp.com for compatibility info on most dvd players. Or you can look at the manufacturer's specs, perhaps you'll even find it there.

Yes, you have to use I-Author. Good luck finding it [legally] though, as it's no longer sold in the US.

Be careful, most players are compatible to 5.1, but only with DVD and very few with SVCD.
