View Full Version : Dvd2svcd does not continue after encoding

Hello,
I am backing up my DVD of Resident Evil and all was going fine until it finished encoding. I am using CCE 2.5 with Multipass VBR = 4, and when it completed, Dvd2svcd did not go onto the next stage in the process. I believe it's Cutting and Muxing with bbMpeg, but I'm not certain. I tried Recover, but it didn't log that the encoding was complete. I was wondering if there was a way for me to continue the process manually. Since I'm not an expert in this field, I don't know what programs to use to continue, or any of the settings to use.

Secondly, I would like to thank everyone in this forum for all their great support. I have solved many of my problems from the replies provided by many of the moderators and senior members. I recently had a problem with CCE freezes, and this board solved that problem. So again, thank you all for being so kind.

if you go into your folder where its all saved do you have the full mpv file and the mp2 file then you can get bbmpeg gui and combine the 2 and have it cut the way you want.

http://www.doom9.org/mpg/avi2svcd.htm

look at that link and look towards the end after the video and sound are already created.

I followed the instructions on that link but when I press the "Start Encoding" button a window opens, scrolls really fast and then brings me back to the main bbmpeg window again. Am I doing something wrong??

if you have a player that plays svcd can you play the mpv file as is (of course it will have no sound)

because bbmpeg should take somewhat more time then that.

also thru that post it should take you here

I played the mpv file in Windows Media Player and it was perfect all the way through. Should I somehow load the mpv and mp2 files in bbmpeg before I press the "Start Encoding" button?? I did find that link, but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe I'm just stupid or something. People like you have to have pretty awesome patience to put up with people like me.
Thanks a bunch!!

Don't I have to use "pulldown" before I use bbmpeg??

I believe that if your encoded vid is 23.97 then you will have to use pulldown.

on bbmpeg

Open bbMPEG (AVI2MPG.EXE), and click on Start Encoding, and in the next window click "Settings".

and if you look at the second pic here http://www.doom9.org/mpg/bbmpeg.htm
it shows you what the tabs look like and where you load the mpv and mp2 files and how to adjust the split points.

so basically, start encoding---settings----adjust what you need----click OK-----then click start.

Just a note gameking: First of all, you should think through a post thoroughly before you make it to ensure you didn't forget anything. But if you did forget something, edit your previous post to include it, another post is not necessary. Nobody likes a topic with 8 replies, 6 of which are by the author ;) Just a little netiquette tip for you.

@gameking
If your MPV is encoded correct, you can do a little trick:
(Do it on your own risk)
-Open your 'dvd2svcd project file.d2s' file with an editor
-look for the line with 'project position'
-alter the number in this line to another number (62 should work)
-Start DVD2SVCD and load your project with CrashRecovery
Now you should be able to continue with 'muxing and cutting'. It will only work, if your conversion really was done, but you can give it a try.

@Labersack
Thanks for the suggestion. I did as you said and changed the project position to 62 and continued on from there. It worked great!!

Thank you all for helping me with my problem! And I'm sorry for not editing my posts instead of making new ones. I guess I'll know for next time.
