CCE amd celeron proz ?!?

Hello,

I did a search on cce and celeron, didn't find what I was looking for.

I have a dual 400 Mhz celeron machine running stable at 2x 552 Mhz. I can install cce 2.5 but whe I start encoding it closes immediately without even giving an error message. When I try to install cce 2.64 trial it stops the installation saying that it needs a proz with sse support.

Does this mean I have to use tmpgenc with this machine?

CCE will NOT work on a Celeron chip architecture, so yes, you are forced to use TMPGEnc instead. Still, ignoring the speed difference, TMPGEnc is capable of equivalent (and sometimes better) MPEG quality, so don't be too disheartened. CCE-SP offers more in the way of VBR tweaking, of course, but TMPGEnc has a great deal to offer you, and should run quite nicely on a DUAL Celeron, since it, like CCE-SP, is multi-threaded.

I suggest you stick to 2.56 (preferably "PLUS") for the time being.

the celeron 400 is a PII celeron, doesnt have SSE, so im guessing that CCE requires CCE or 3dnow ??

so we agree that cce will not run on a celeron 400 even if overclocked to 552.

BUT does the fact that I can Install cce 2.5 mean that that version will run on my system? I mean only version 2.64 trial tells me it will not run on my proz and stops. If so then why does cce 2.5 close when I start it?

No. The installation routine simply was changed.
Version 2.50 checked your processor when executing.
Higher versions check your processor when installing.

Routine was changed because of exactly that problems and thinking.

So there is no way working with cce with your actual configuration. Either upgrade hardware or use tmpeg. Sorry for that information.

I looked up for the specs

and you will need even celeron 533A or mobile celeron 400A and higher.
So you need a celeron A.
That spec did not change from version 2.25 SP on ...

P.S: I am quite content with tmpgenc but I have read the post about the new roba method and wanted to give it a try, thats all.

To put it simply, to use CCE, you must have a SSE capable CPU. A 500 or lower Celeron is not...it is MMX only.
