I've noticed that when I check the disk info on the dvd's I have, nero says 4.489 is the capacity

The bar on the bottom of the compilation is also set at right below 4500 megs. Is this setting adjustable? Can it be reset? Like you can set the red and yellow lines for overburning with cd's? File >Preferences > expert features
Should this be set higher? How do you set higher, up to like 4650 maybe.

I have compiled a couple of Dvd's and thought I was comfortably under the limit, thought I was at 4600, but no dice, no burn, Nero says "replace disc with more capacity".

All my DVD discs say 4.489 with the above mentioned option in Nero. 2 different batches of dvdrs and one of dvdrws.

I am re-encoding down to that size, but now I wondering?

Anybody know? Sorry if I'm asking something dumb! Help!

thanks,

JIm

I'm afraid that this is the question of bytes Versus Gbytes. the 4.7 quoted is the size in bytes. As the programs use Giga Bytes you need to be looking at no more than 4.38Gb for your project, as this is the maximum capacity of a DVD-R(RW) - Hope this helps.
