old movie playback divx 3.11

my old divx3 movies look like the screenshot included in this post- the colours are very strange- it seems its because of the divx4 codec which is used for playback but i dont find a way to make this movies look like when playing back with divx3 filters- damn

even tsunamis filter packages 3.9.1 and 3.9.3 dont handle that problem

who can help ?

you can try ffdshow (http://sf.net/projects/ffdshow).

i'd also suggest messing with your video configuration (changing resolution, color bits 16/24/32) or even try to install new drivers.

the problem isnt the driver its the codec- as long as i install only thge divx 3.11 codec everything is ok- but while installing hte tsunami pack- the 4.11 codec takes controll over the avi playback- well maybe someone else can help

i had the same problem a time ago, i wonder why all my encoded videos looks so bad - the same color problem shown in your movie above!

my graphic card was at this time a tnt2 and my desktop color - 16 bit. After i changed my color to 32 bit the video looks normal without any problems so i think the color is the problem try to change it to 32 bit! in my case it worked.

yeah i couldn´t believed it- changing the desktop colour depth from 16 bit to true colour solved that prob- thanx for help dudes- srange but thats how it goes sometimes

Yeah, i've experienced this too.

One thing that i've discovered draws down quality *alot* is adjusting brightness etc in the DivX CODEC. It's much better to do this in the graphic drivers instead.
