I am trying to encode Collateral damage using tmpgenc. I dont have cce and its not an option right now. I read the dvd2avi guide and transcoding with tmpgenc. It says you can expect tmpgenc to lock up for a while but then come back when you load the file IFO Edit creates for you. I have waited for better than a half hour to almost an hour and it didnt come back. I have an amd athlon 700 so maybe it will take longer. When I do the crtl alt del it shows tmpgenc as "not responding" will it show that if there is a chance it will recover and is just busy doing what I asked it to?
thanks

When importing GOP structure in TMPG, it may take time.. It also may just crach and you can then way years for nothing.
When working i experienced about 10 min wait on my P3 1 Ghz.
Worst, it's not clear if TMPG really respect the GOP structure imposed. From my tests, i did not find TMPG to follow the GOP you give it, but just create a new ones.

after stopping and starting several times this weekend I finally just let it run and went to work. I started it at 5:30 am. I called home at around noon and tmpgenc had finally recovered with the message "cannot load line" or something real simular. I transcoded the video overnight and it just finished before I left again this morning so i will find out if it was worth the trouble tonight. I wish I knew how long it took to come out of it. Longest I let it go before was almost an hour and a half.
thanks

I just come back reading this post again, I just add this note might be work out. Someone in this forum has noticed that, using older version of ifoedit.088 can fix the problem (download from this link http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/index.html). I don't have time to try it yet. good luck
