Burning DVDS I need serious help please

hi i am new to copy dvds and have been reading throught these forums looking for some help, following the guides i ahve i have used smart ripper to get my dvd onto my hard drive and then used ifoedit to split the film onto 2 dvds, the film in question is lord of the rings so i know have to folders one for each disk and have created VIDEO_TS in each folder to hold all the files but when i go to select disk image it ask for a source drive and i cant select an of mine and not sure where i am going if any one can help it would be great or if anyone has any more detailed guieds on how to copy dvds films that would be spot on.

also i tried to copy a dvd straight to dvd because i knew the film i ws copying would fit onto s 4.7gb disk no problem and this copied fine is there anything i should do or is it ok just to copy dvd to dvd, thanks

You seem to have jumped in at the deep end, trying to split a DVD in 2. It's not the easiest process to complete.

I think you are on the right track by trying to copy a single DVD-5 type disc first.

There are several steps to "Copying a DVD".

1 Ripping the DVD to your hard disc (Using Smartripper or DVD Decrypter) Looks like you've found that already.

2 Checking to make sure that what you have ripped will then fit onto your DVD disc. This means making sure it is below 4.38GB If it's not then it will need to be re encoded.

3 DVD Burning software. There's loads out there, which one are you going to be using ?

4 Disc media. Having spent a fair amount of time working on your files, you are ready to burn, but to what ? There are lots and lots of disc types out there, search this forum for lots of tales of whoo, but there are also tales of sucess. Last but not least does your settop box play DVD-Rs ? (quite a few don't)
