Help!
This is probably some stupid setting I'm doing, here it goes.

I have TMPG plus 2.57. The very first time I ran it on my computer I followed the 'TMPG DVD encoding'guide and everything worked great. I never actually began the encoding part, but everthig loaded ok. I returned a second time to continue my project and attempted to load the very same dvd2avi file (IronMonkey.d2v) and I got the following error:

File "my file" can not open, or unsupported.

I've checked the enviromental settings under the VFAPI tab and the DVD2AVI box is checked, the path shown to DVD2AVI.vfp is correct.
I even tried moving it to the same directory as tmpg.exe. No luck. It's so frustrating because it ran ok the first time. I've been looking through the forum and havent found an answer. Any ideas as to what else I should try?
thanks

The format of the D2V file has changed a few times afaik, and TMPGENC may not read some of the newer file formats.

If you run the VFAPI converter (available on the downloads area), you can change the D2V into a pseudo-avi file that TMPGENC can read just fine.

I tried VFAPI and had no luck loading my DVD2AVI file. I got the following error:

VFAPI Reader Codec (some weird charters) then
????? D:/IM/IRONMONKEY.d2v ??????

I followed the included directions with VFAPI, but no luck. I'm wondering if it might be my DVD2avi version, I'm running 1.76 as modified by OGO to add avisynth reziser.

Success! I redownloaded DVD2AVI version 1.76 and resaved my project. Inmidiately after, I went to tmpg, opened up the project, and everything worked fine. In addition, Vfapi was also able to load the project.
