is this part of doom9's cce guide right:


The 4 parameters at the bottom are important. As you can see the Picture structure is frame which means the content is frame based rather than Field based, so you would check Progressive frames in CCE. The DCT type: Frame also points to this. If the content were interlaced the DCT type would by Field instead.

Field topfirst is no, so we don't check Upper field first in CCE.

Quantscale is actually nonlinear which would lead us to believe to not check Linear quantizer scale but the original author of this method told me that linear quantizer scale yields better quality.


i'm asking this because in the dvd2svcd guide this wasn't right from what i read here in the board.

option3 is out of the question.. I'm only human and humans tend to make errors from time to time ;)

Though the creator of this method looked over my guide and advised me when I was testing.. what I wrote is what I was told. If in doubt you can always make your own tests and see if you get better results changing an option. If you do, don't forget to post your results.

I like the guiding of CCE encode very much, it's very fast encoding.
Can I use CCE instead TMPG or REMPEG2 for Transcode in Step 5: "Transcode the video stream"? of topic "DVD -> DVD-5 guide" ???

@Freedoom4vn: could you give me a link to the actual guide.. there's quite a lot of guides on the topic DVD -> DVD-R... and only in some can you use cce.

let's me put it up again, CCE is much faster than TMPG/REmpeg2. Could we (newbies)use it for transcode in the DVD --> DVD-5 guide: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-basic.htm

when using TMPG, I couldn't loadup the file: TmpgTemplate.txt (Ifpedit creates from file VTS 02-0.IFO), my computer has hung on forever. Do you have any idea?

I'm afraid it's not possible to use CCE in that guide.
As for TMPG.. how long did you wait? It will take a couple of minutes at least and TMPG will look like it has frozen during that time. Make sure you only export I frames or it will take much longer.

what version of ifoedit are u using? cause i had the same problem ,but than i started using ifoedit 0.88 and problem was gone...

ps:in the 0.91 version the create tmpg template function works in amother way than in 0.88 ,my framenumberlist created with 0.91 always had I and P frames and that is the problem like doom9 wrote in his guide too...

sorry, I didn't know you have posted the same problem that i got.
I use ifoedit .93 something. Since it doen't work, i gave up.
I \'ll try TMPG again, thank you for pointing that out.

to wait for TmpgEnc export of indexed i-frames (or whatever it does to comply to ifoedit) I've had some pretty long coffe-breaks. Upwards 45 - 60 minutes on a p4 2GHz.
