What are the allowed resolutions for DVD? I thought it was 352*240 and 720*480 until I heard that 352*480 also works.

I tried 352*480, and it worked fine with Maestro.

I am wondering if anyone could tell me all the different resolutions allowed for DVD's...

MPEG-1
• SIF (Standard Interface Format): 352x240 NTSC, 352x288 PAL

MPEG-2
• Full D-1: 720x480 NTSC, 720x576 PAL

• Cropped D-1: 704x480 NTSC, 704x576 PAL (matches analog blanking)

• 1/2 D-1: 352x480 NTSC, 352x576 PAL

• SIF (Standard Interface Format): 352x240 NTSC, 352x288 PAL

Remember also that many DVD authoring applications will not accept multiplexed MPEG streams, so you'll need elementary MPEG files (for example: ".mpv" or ".m2v").

It is also possible to "cheat" with SOME (not ALL!!!) non-standard framesizes, by using the following patcher:

OR:

Personally, I would never choose (and HAVE never chosen) to patch non-standard files - I always create DVD-compliant files right from the outset.

Hope this helps.
