Hi Doom9,

i bought myself TMPEG Encoder 2.7., but i think it's nice to play around with prgs like CCE. The only drawback is the price of 1500$. CCE is a fantastic encoder, but lots of functions are missing.

And DO YOU really think that only ONE individual (no company!) posting to this forum has bought CCE?! Do you think they live with an encoding limit or a nice and fancy logo!?

I know there are some people here who work for DVD authoring companies and who therefore have legal licenses of the $35k professional DVD authoring packages.. isn't it reasonable to assume that these people also have access to a legal version of CCE? ;)

Plus.. we don't want to talk about cracks or warez. Nobody asks where you get your software from, but how you get it is your own problem and not to be discussed here. If even a rumour reaches the BSA that you can get illegal software here next thing you'll know is a blank page when you type "forum.doom9.org" and me and the admin get a C&D letter or worse. You don't want that to happen, do you?

so, who makes the $35k software for dvd mastering? i was tlaking to a manager for universal last weekend and we discussed some things but not where the encoders come from. do the big houses use hardware encoders (i've read they use hardware telecine) or do they have to use software as well?

I think SONIC has a 35k$ software... it's called scenarist pro!

dvdmaestro is in the same price class.. but spruce (respectively apple) does not longer sell it.

I've tested the new CCE 2.64.
On my computer (celeron2 600@900) the CCE 2.5 is about 10%-15% faster than 2.64!

Yes 10%, that's normal.

If you think higher versions have to be faster then you're wrong (try also cce 2.25 sp ;) ). But it gives you slightly better encodings (and provides some new features; matrix editing, no 2 GB limit f.e.).

This sucks. The new 2.64.01.10 has a VERY annoying bug:

It appears when your ECL file has an AVS script and you're doing a VBR compress.

AFTER loading the ECL file and starting the encoding after every step the encoder stops.

So anyway if DVD2SVCD will be capable to use 2.64 with AVS script It will be unusable because of this bug. And the safe way (through vfapi ) is very slow.

That's sad. We can wait another half year for a new CCE version. That hopefully will work well with AVS scripts. (in VBR mode) :(

Yepp, you're right.
Doesn't work for me, too.

Maybe a workaround could be found. I will do some further testings (will test it also on 2.66beta).

There is a work around but it is hard to automatize (thinking about DVD2SVCD again :D)

0) Load the ECL
1) Double click on the item that has AVS
2) Click on 'Input files'->Settings button
3) Select input AVS and DELETE
4) right click and ADD the same AVS file again
5) OK
6) OK
7) Save ECL

Now it works. But I think customtech should release a patch or anything for this. This is really annoying.

Tested it - and the bug is not present in the (older) 2.66.00.10 beta SP.

So there is hope :)

Another bug is that 2.64.01.10 can't preview avs (encode settings - settings - doubleclick on avs) whereas 2.66beta has no problems at all ...

A little bit disappointing for the 2.64.01.10 which claims avs support since 2.64.01.09 (i have 2.64.01.09 for 2 months now).

btw. 2.64.01.10 standalone is already full working (besides the bugs of course) ;)

Yes the preview bug. I didn't mention it. It is not so important. However it should work.

So anyway I decided to downgrade back to 2.50.

2.50 can support avs well and about 15% faster than 2.64.01.10

I'll wait for next version.
