(this is a bit advanced for the normal user of DVD2SVCD so i'm
posting it here, lets hope it wasn't a mistake)
How to remove 'banner/ad subtitles'.
In the long history of ripping Greek and English DVDs, i've been
doing a lot of work on subtitles. Many DVDs have a small advert or
banner at the end of the movie, which says who made the subtitles.
These advert/banners exist in many 'subtitles for the hearing impared', and in most DVDs sold in Greece which had their subtitles produced by
one of the local firms (Spentzos Film, etc).
Some people do not like this 'gray' advertising of who made the subtitles
appearing at the end of the movie right ontop of the ending, or ontop
of the ending credits.
So here we go:
1) Start the ripping process as usual.
2) Select the subtitles that you want to rip as usual.
3) Once the ripping starts, watch the Log tab.
4) Once the 'Extracting the subtitles' has finished and the
next part of the ripping process starts (AUDIO Extraction),
you should open your favorite file manager.
5) Go to the .\Subs directory (or whatever you've got as path
for ripping the subtitles in your 'Subtitles' tab.
6) As you'll notice all subtitles are just bitmap images. Now
find the very last files, they are the ones at the bottom if
you sort in alphabetical order, the ones with the highest number
on the filename. For example 'en101351.bmp'.
7) Run Paint (Start->Programs->Accessories->Paint), and load
that file.
8) If indeed it is a banner/ad, then use the rectangle tool (filled,
no border) with black color to pain over the letters.
9) Now save the file and you are ready.
10) As a last note, sometimes the banner/ad can be two or three
subtitles long! So just in case, take a look at the last three
subtitles, for example en101349.bmp, en101350.bmp, en101351.bmp.
