Movie 1hr 31 minutes using 4.9G

I've been working on Hercules which is only 1 hour 31 minutes long. I've stripped out the angles, menus, and languages except for English DD 5.1. Still the size is 4 one gig VOBs and a fifth VOB that's 900 megs. What could possibly be in this 91 minute movie that makes it this size? I've looked at it with vobrater, vobedit, ifoedit etc and can't see what else is making it take up this much space.

If the average bitrate of that movie is ~7Mbps (which is within specs) your resulting files sum up to 4.9 GB including one AC3 soundtrack. You could use Bitrate Viewer to verify this.

i noticed that a lot of animes have higher bitrates than regular movies.

but i also noticed that you dont lose much (if any) quality if you re encode them thru CCE ! :)

Yeh, I keep on hearing that about CCE, wish I had enough of a tutorial so I could test it against ReMPEG2...

But I have not found a place that goes from step 1 on ripping the dvd all the way up to burning the DVDR.
(of course, using CCE as your transcoder)

I have Scenarist for authoring also.

Any/All help would be appreciated..

there is a really good CCE guide on doom9 that goes through all the steps necessary to re-encode your video.

I have kinda seen that..Bit it just seems to be split amongst multiple guides...

Yes, it is split up, but after you've done it 2 or 3 times it is cake. Try it! You'll thank yourself after you see how much better it looks--especially if you've been using ReMPEG2.

Instead of doing any quality based editing, did you try dumping off the end credits ?
Could be just enough of an edit to get you down to "one DVD" size ?

I did drop off all of the end credits but that only amounted to about 200m leaving me with a 700m fifth vob. I finally just started working with dvd2avi and cce. I seem to have found a good bitrate for the entire movie and I authored it with DVD Maestro.
