I have a problem creating a DVD with the correct aspect ratio. First I created a DVD2AVI project and did all the other steps so that i could encode using CCE. So i've encoded a DVD compliant MPEG-2 video file but when I create a DVD using SpruceUp, the aspect ratio is not 16:9. Instead the video is displayed at full screen without the black bars on the top and bottom. I know the original movie is 16:9 and DVD2AVI said it was 16:9 also. I also made sure to check that the aspect ratio was set to 16:9 in CCE.

So is there a way to get the correct aspect ratio? I can get the correct aspect ratio using TMPG to encode a dvd compliant mpeg file but its too damn slow and I like the quality and speed of CCE better.

Not certain why using TMPGEnc to generate your file would make any difference (unless TMPGEnc is adding in the black bars for you). Anyway, SpruceUp only supports 4:3, so you will have to use IfoEdit afterwards to set the correct aspect ratio. Just click on the line with 720x480 NTSC 4:3 (or whatever it says), set it to 16:9 and automatic letterboxed and save.
