How do i remux only the last 2 vob's?

I figured to save time and because i only needed to shave a few hundred megs that i will rempeg only the last 2 vob files of a movie.I now have a perfect size .m2v file but i can't figure out how to remux this in IfoEdit(i tried to only leave the last 2 vob's with the ifo file but it didn't work).I think this has been covered somewhere in the forum before but i can't find the thread.

I haven't tried this myself, but it should be straight forward.

Just make sure that ALL the movie VOBs are in the same directory, as well as your *.m2v file, then just remux in the normal way.

Ifoedit should do a straight read/copy on the first few VOBs where there is no re encoding, and then only start to "properly" re mux when it gets to the later VOB files.

I assume you have done this with a "full movie" before ?

Let us know how you get on. It's something I might give a try myself.

I just tried it exactly per your instructions but what happened was that IfoEdit created 3 new vob's starting in the middle with my .m2v file but with sound from the beginning of the movie and choppy playback.I think i might have to edit the ifo file somehow,or?

you cannot rempeg the LAST vob.
you can only rempeg the FIRST vob or the entire title set.

Looks great wil try when I get home..

I have tried ReMPEGing Jurassic park 1 twice now..all the vobs...and then remuxing.
Each time I am getting a movie file that has a slight pause every 10 seconds or so while playing...I saw this via IFOEdit DVD player and WinDVD...

No I am trying to do the Transcoding on VOB1 only.....Before I do the stripping of streams...

Question:

Stripping of streams first with IFOEdit and then Transcoding?

OR

Transcoding first and then stripping of streams with IFOEdit?

make sure there isn't an cell-id at the front of vob1. sometimes these cells contain "produced by" logos that are at a different bitrate than the movie. rempeg2 will use the logo bitrates to set its parameters. this will distort the movie by using this bitrate.

try removing all unnecessary cell-id's at the front of vob1.

worked for me many times.

How do I remove these cell ids at the front of the first vob?

I normally use VOBRator to view all the cell ids for knowing which to keep in my IFOEdit project...

demux by cell_id using VOBedit.

drop each demuxed vob into dvd2avi and select the ones that don't have anything to do with the movie.
delete those vobs.
open the first remaining vob in vobedit and choose join files.
re-join them into the original vob1 file name.
