guide question

hi, dunno really if this is right in here, nevermind

what i would like zo know

when i use smartripper to rip the dvd, i already can demux
the audio i need for futher work.

also smartripper makes an *.d2v file

so, what interests me is,

what should i use dvd2avi for also

when i save an projekt with that, the *.d2v files are little
different in size (smartripper to dvd2avi).

so is there a quality aspect what makes the dvd2avi project better ?

DO NOT use the .d2v created by Smartripper.. it may work for PAL movies but it will not work properly for NTSC. Using DVD2AVI you'll ensure that you won't run into any nasty surprises later on in the process.

well, i only make pal dvdr so that wouldnt be the deal.

if there are any other aspects i would like to know.

otherwise, its no big deal, only takes few minutes, thats it,
i only thought each step could bring more failures in so why
not jumping it.

actually.. since you don't really have to change any settings after setting up dvd2avi for the first time I consider DVD2AVI the safer solution.. especially considering all the problems that have been reported regarding SmartRipper's d2v files. But then again.. if it works for you it may be safer to not use DVD2AVI and risk screwing up there (though that always happens when people don't read my guide or try to interprete instead of just following the words on-screen).

Smartrippers .d2v are wrong (do a comparison with dvd2avi .d2v) for both PAL and NTSC.
For PAL it introduces a slight delay of some frames (was it 2 frames, I don't remember).

as far as i see, i stay with dvd2avi

never had any probs by now so why change it :D
