if you have updated the drivers when you upgraded to win xp pro you can try to reset or 'roll back' the drivers in order to have them function as they once did with win 9X.
also if you have not updated the drivers that might be the problem.
windows xp pro (which is what was once called the win 9X nt) has had many upgrading issues with drivers and software, either it can be corrected or it just wont work.
to roll back or update the driver goto start-settings-control pannel- Performance and Maintenance- system- hardware- device manager- right click your drive- click on properties- driver- and select roll back or update.. this should work if not im sorry i cannot help you,
however i do not know XP pro exactly to a T at this point so maybe there is still a way to fix the problem...

Sounds like you need to update your burning software
to XP compatable . there's been alot of discussion
here recently about burning dvdr's , do a search of
the boards .
On the other hand , it might be MS's helping the
MPAA with they're DRM ?
ps You didn't say whether they played on your
computer or other stand alone player ?
