Hello,

It is well know that Ifoedit does not work well with Windows XP and I have XP. Perhaps because of this, every time I click on “DVD Play” in Ifoedit to determine needed tiles for ripping, the application crashes after a few seconds of playing the DVD. Hence, I have to guess at which titles I need to rip and am rarely correct in my assumption, especially if I want to keep the DVD menus, etc. Is there another way to perform this task without or with using Ifoedit? Thanks in advance.

You can also analyse the structure and decide what you want to keep using VOBRator. One of the usual guides tells how - I think it's the DVD rip basic guide on vcdhelp.com, but I'm not sure and too lazy to check.

VOBrator crashes constantly on my machine. I am using IfoEdit under XP with no issues, so I don't know why it is giving you a hard time, unless you have decoders from several software DVD players installed. As an alternative, I load the .VOBs into DVD2AVI and then preview (F5) the movie. After a few seconds, hit escape to stop the preview, and then use the mouse to move the slider from the beginning to the end of the film. Watch the VOB/Cell ID boxes on the right side, and you will find out which VOB IDs are used for the film.
