I just finished my first CCE/IfoEdit backup, after 2 days of trying to figure out why the movie played fine on the hard drive but gave a illegal navigation error after burn in IfoEdit, and freezing on my DV-525.

Finally i figured out that there was a problem with the vts_01_0.ifo file. When I looked at the file on the HDD, it was fine, but on the DVD-RW, it was blank??? I tried erasing and reburning the DVD-RW(pioneer) from the VIDEO_TS folder 3 times with no success.

Eventually, i built the image with IfoEdit, then burned with RecordNow. Perfect. So it seems that RecordNow is unreliable in building images from files.

Record Now or Record Now Max? The former does not arrange DVDs for video use.

It's "Pioneer/Veritas" RecordNow DX that came with the Pioneer A04 retail box. I guess maybe that's the problem, but why would the ifo file be completely blank? The filesize is correct in explorer (on DVD-RW), but when i open the file in IfoEdit or notepad, it is blank.

Thanks for the response, i'll probably stick with IfoEdit for images from now on.

It probably put the file into a different sector than what the directory says. DVD-video has to be laid out on the disk according to information in video_ts.ifo, and the directory built accordingly.
