Fast / Smart Deinterlace-What's diference?

I had tried make divx by gordian knot with fast and smart deinterlace, but i do not see any diference between both.

Who is the diference? Thankyou.

Fast interlace just halves the vertical resolution (ie, removing every second line so that interlacing is not seen.)

Smart deinterlace uses Decomb to remove combing and interlacing artifacts, which keeps the full resolution in static areas of the picture.
