I realize that most of you are not working w/ Windows Media Video 8 for good reason but I am restricted to this codec at work.
I found a method for frameserving from Virtualdub to the Windows Media 8 command line encoder on Usenet but have been unable to get it working as desired. I was hoping someone may have a suggestion or experience with this.
The method:
1. DVD2AVI outputs .d2v and .wav
2. VFAPI converts .d2v to fake .avi
3. Virtualdub opens fake .avi, joins the .wav and outputs a .vdr signpost file.
4. VFAPI(with the tmpegenc read-avs plugin) opens the .vdr file and generates another fake .avi.
5. WM8 cmd line encoder reads the resulting .avi
This process works except that I lose the audio after step 3. In step 4 I am able to import the .vdr to VFAPI but the audio track is not available here. What am I missing?
I am aware of the tmpegenc method of saving a .d2v as a tmpg project and then converting back to .avi w/ VFAPI but I really need Virtualdub's feature set to crop etc here. I have ~1000 dvds to rip for work so I am hoping I can do as much of this as possible without writing out real .avi's.
thanks
